Eye Essentials: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows 1 photo Makeup-Geek-eyeshadows-1_zpsw7z4dzyn.jpg

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a while since my last post! I've been so busy with Uni and Placement and just haven't had the time for blogging.

Makeup Geek eyeshadows have been a staple in my make up bag for the past few months and for good reason! I decided to purchase a few of their shadows after repeatedly noticing people mention them on instagram, particularly Kayla Hagey. Bitten, Frappe and Peach Smoothie were the three shadows that I seemed to hear about most so I decided to buy them first. I have also bought Cocoa Bear, Mercury, Unexpected and Mermaid.

Beauty Bargain: Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks and Contour Kit

Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks and Contour Kit photo Barry-M-Flawless-Chisel-Cheeks-and-Contour-Kit_zpsnckw4zrt.jpg

There's been a lot of hype around the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit in the blogging world lately so I decided to pick it up during my last haul and try my hand at contouring. Barry M are a brand that I've always associated with nail polish and I never really thought of trying any of their other products until recently.

The contour kit is only £6.49 which is a bargain considering it contains three decent sized pans. Although one downside is that there is only the one set of three shades rather than different sets for different skin tones so this might not suit everyone. A contour kit isn't something that I would be willing to spend a lot of money on as it's not something that I would use everyday, so this kit is perfect for me! It also has a little step by step guide instead of a mirror which is helpful if like me, you're new to contouring.

Liebster Award

 photo liebster-blog-award_zpsoer1nw3s.png

I was very kindly nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Rachel Shuchat Makeup.
The point of this award is to spread awareness to new bloggers like myself and get to know the person behind the blog. You answer eleven questions, then nominate other new bloggers. There are four simple rules:
1. Thank and link the person who nominated you.
2. Answer the nominators 11 questions.
3. Nominate a number of small blogs with fewer than 200 followers who you believe deserve this award and include their links.
4. Create 11 new questions for your nominees to answer. Notify those nominees.

1. What do you love most about blogging?
I love writing about something that really interests me and sharing it with others, especially when people find it useful. I also love finding other blogs and hearing other's opinions on products/learning new tips and tricks!

2. What keeps you motivated to post?
The fact that I enjoy it (unlike my uni work).

3. How old are you?
I'm 20, turning 21 in June!

4. What is your #1 pet peeve?
Hmm I don't know if you would call it a pet peeve but lately it's people who don't let everyone get off the train before pushing on and people who put their bag on the seat beside them so you can't sit down. Can you tell how much I love commuting?

5. How often do you post on your blog?
Well this is only my third post so I can't really say as of yet but I'm hoping to post once a week. I might post twice a week when I've finished Uni as I've got tons of work to do and I work 9-5 Monday to Friday so I don't have much free time.

 6. What do you look for in a blog that makes you click the follow button?
Eye catching pictures, interesting looking posts (I mostly follow beauty blogs) and the main thing for me is affordable products. Blogs full of reviews of really expensive brands like Clarins, Dior, Chanel etc. simply because they're way out of my price range haha.

7. How long does it take you to prepare your average post?
Eh I guess it depends on the type of post. I like things to be quite detailed and I'm a perfectionist. I also write my posts while watching TV so it definitely takes longer than it should.

8. How long ago did you first start blogging?

9. What's your favorite movie of all time?
Lord of the Rings the Two Towers. It's been my favourite movie since it came out about 13 years ago.

10. What's one food you hate?
Oranges! I really dislike fruit in general but I cannot stand oranges. I have a weird phobia of them. I can't stand the smell, I don't like them touching me and I hate anything orange flavoured except Terry's Chocolate Orange.

11. Describe yourself in six words.
Lazy, fun, weird, caring, smart(ish), awkward.

My questions are:
1. Why did you decide to start your blog?
2. What's your favourite ever lipstick?
3. Do you have a certain career in mind?
4. Who is your favourite band/musician?
5. If you could only use products from one brand, which brand would you choose?
6. What is your ultimate holy grail item?
7. If you had to pick only one make up product to use, what would it be?
8. What is your favourite type of blog post to read/write?
9. What piece of advice would you like to give your younger self?
10. Do you have any other hobbies?
11. What do you find most challenging about blogging?

I nominate:
Blushify
Emilylikesmakeup
Summatime
Hannah Butterworth
Emily Rose Perrin

Sorry if you've already been nominated!

All about that haul

 photo Superdrug-Make-up-Haul_zps891oz7jp.png

Hello everyone!
I hope you're enjoying the lovely weather as much as I am! I'm at home in Belfast for Easter and it's so nice and sunny here.

I have a bad habit of wandering into Superdrug and/or Boots during my lunch breaks. I'm usually quite well behaved and just leave with a swatch covered hand. However, a week or so ago I decided to treat myself and got a bit carried away! I originally planned to buy the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit and a dark brownish red lip liner and lipstick but as you can see things didn't exactly go to plan haha.

Beauty Bargain: Makeup Revolution Baked Eyeshadows

 photo 1_zpsyq9qatx6.jpg

I'm sure the vast majority of people who read/write blogs or have an interest in make up have heard of Makeup Revolution. With their affordable (student friendly) and highly pigmented eyeshadows, what's not to love? Makeup Revolution have secured themselves a place in my favourite make up brands for these two qualities.

Recently I was in Superdrug with my friend Lauren when I spotted Makeup Revolution's Baked Eyeshadows. I was instantly drawn to them. The colours were so pretty and the compact packaging meant I could easily pop them in my handbag if I wanted. Plus at only £2.50 how could I resist? I'm a sucker for a bargain and some pretty colours!

Hi hello

 photo intro post_zps5jxoklyc.png

Hi and welcome! My name is Tara and I'm a 20 year old student living in Leeds.
Starting a beauty blog is something I've wanted to do for quite a long time. I've had an interest in make up for years which began with the purchase of a bright purple urban decay eyeshadow and blue glitter eyeliner (which I still have hah). I then discovered youtube tutorials and would spend ages watching them, trying (and failing) to recreate the looks and put my own spin on them. From there I discovered beauty blogs. I loved reading other's opinions on things and seeing their swatches, especially products that I wasn't sure were worth my money.
